Audi has developed a technology for partial matting painted surfaces. Thanks to this car it became possible to apply lettering and graphics, making it looks unique.
Because the image is applied to the machine body after painting, the process can be easily integrated into production. Now Audi offers this option of customization to buyers of Audi R8, but in the future the company plans to expand the program to other models.
“The method of partial matting is a great example of the flexibility of our production. The possibility of realization of individualization in conventional mass production is one of the objectives of our smart factory,” said Hubert Waltl, member of the Board of Directors for the production of the Audi AG.
