We live in unpredictable and conflict-affected world, where any spiritual effort aimed at the well-being of the humanity is notable. According to our sources, on May 15, 2023, the Russian Foundation for the Revival of Cultural and Spiritual Traditions named after the brothers Yakub and Nikolai Halebi sent messages to the UN Secretary General and the American administration, in which it outlined the successful experience of the Christian mission of the 19th century, provided effective mechanisms for maintaining peace on the planet. The Foundation proposed using the mission experience for the modern civilization.
Since then, the new American president was inaugurated. Donald Trump’s return to the White House with Christian slogans and promises to bring peace. His words gave hope to the world and were supported by everyone, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russians and Americans.
It is surprising that the constructive initiative of the Russian Foundation has not been supported yet, despite the loud statements of politicians. Unfortunately, the letters are still awaiting a response, although they were resent on February 25, 2025 and, according to the receipt of sending, were handed over to the responsible persons.
We asked for the permission of the author – Mirian Omarovich Bichikaev, Head of the Foundation, and decided to publish the texts as an open letter. E-Vesti now asks the UN Secretariat and the US Administration to deliver the messages to the addressees and to provide a substantive response to them.
Brothers Yakub and Nikolai Halebi were active members of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, which was opened in 1847 in the Holy Land with the support of Emperor Nicholas I. Yakub was engaged in the land management of the Mission as a dragoman (translator), and Nikolai was responsible for the paperwork as a postman. In Russia, the Mission’s activities received the highest praise, and its ascetics received honorary gold medals for their diligence from Tsar Alexander II.
The Yakub and Nikolai Halebi Foundation for the Revival of Cultural and Spiritual Traditions, founded by a descendant of the Halebi family, preserves the legacy of these amazing people through the study of archives. Halebi left the world the unique information about the Mission activities, in an effort to pass its spiritual experience to further generations.

Dear Secretary-General of the United Nations,
Dear President of the United States of America,
Dear Senators of the United States of America!
My name is Mirian Bichikaev. I am the founder of the Yakub and Nikolai Halebi Foundation for the Revival of Cultural and Spiritual Traditions, and also the descendant of these outstanding historical translators of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem.
The Halebi brothers in the 19th century fulfills the God’s will, promoting the diplomatic, cultural and humanitarian collaboration between peoples. They made a significant contribution to the translation of the world history of republics and statehood, which resulted in the formation of many international unions and organizations, such as:
- Union for the Measurement of Land (1864),
- Universal Telegraph Union (1865),
- Universal Postal Union (1874),
- International Bureau of Weights and Measures (1875),
- International Railway Goods Union (1890),
- International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Property (1886),
- International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (1863),
- League of Nations (predecessor of the UN).
Due to the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, which acted according to God’s will, many peoples were saved in the 19th century, including the people of the United States. This contribution has been forever recorded in the annals of US history. The significant achievements are the inscription “In God We Trust” appeared on US dollars In 1864, and the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution adopted in 1865. It is symbolic that the US currency – the US dollar – was formed from the number 13, which amazingly coincides with my birthday on September 13, 1975.
Taking into the account the above-mentioned, in the name of fulfilling the will of God and restoring historical justice, I ask you, dear Mr. President, to promote peace throughout the world, including in the dialogue between the heads of Russia and Ukraine. It will be an important step towards resolving the situation in the Middle East, between the people of Palestine and Israel.
For my part, as a citizen of the Russian Federation, I am also ready to contribute to this process, including using knowledge from the historical archives of Moscow, to contribute in resolving the global crises and in fight the dark forces that hinder the peaceful coexistence of people.
