In October, on the stage of «Music Hall», was presented the premiere of the musical «Onegin». The unusual format to a classic book gave the production company Makers Lab. This is not their first experience of work with the masterpieces of Russian literature. Earlier on the stage of «Music Hall» was presented the musical «Master and Margarita» based on the self-titled novel by Mikhail Bulgakov.
The musical includes both the appreciation to the original and the achievements of the newest technologies. The audience will watch 3D-effects, surround sounds and the careful attention to the details as well. The costumers tried to create those unique clothing that had already impressed the readers of «Eugene Onegin». The style of that period embodied not only in clothing, but also in the atmosphere of St. Petersburg balls, rural open spaces, holiday of Ivan Kupala and Carnival Season in a blizzard.
Dramatic destinies of the characters are emphasized by music which, as well as the musical, combines classics and the innovation. The main musical narration belongs to composers Anton Tanonov and Gleb Matveychuk. It is also enriched by the quotes from P. I. Tchaikovsky’s oeuvre and Russian national songs. Irina Afanasyeva, Maria Oshmyanskaya, Andrey Pastushenko and Igor Shevchuk worked on the libretto. The ballet master of the Maryinsky Theater Dmitry Pimonov worked on the choreography of the musical. The director of the performance is Sofya Sirakanyan. And the leading actors are already familiar to many admirers of a genre of musicals. Famous characters of the Pushkin novel in verses will be embodied on a scene by Anton Avdeev, Kirill Gordeev, Manana Gogitidze, Vera Sveshnikova and others.
The new unit of the performances will take place in «Music Hall» from 10 to 13 December, 2015.
