According to the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation, “Studio of theater art” (STI) Sergey Zhenovach becomes the Federal theatre, that is, it will move to budget financing. The theatre annually requires about 80 million roubles. For shortage of money it was on the verge of closure.
State assistance to the STI was petitioned by the Director of the theater Vakhtangov Kirill KROK and the Art Director of “Lenkom” Mark Zaharov.
In Russia since the times of Catherine II the state took the most part of expenses on theatrical business. And today, according to the “Concept of long-term development of theatre… until 2020, “despite the importance of the development of the private sector in contemporary Russian theatre, basic social functions remain for state and municipal theaters.”
Currently, STI is closed for summer vacation until September 2016 (the ticket office will begin work on August 14, 2016).
