According to press service of the St. Petersburg University (SPbSU), St. Petersburg holds a «Voices of Africa» competition among young researchers wishing to explore African country (South and Central Africa) by April 15, 2017.
Research subject may include any field theme of social sciences (history, linguistics, and the study of folklore and etc.). The grant can receive one or two researchers older than 18 years for the claimed subject. It will be about 2’000 Euro.
The competition jury consists of leading Africanists, including 5 teachers from St. Petersburg State University. The basic principle of selection according to the organizers: “to continue the researches that would be supported by Yevgeny Shurygin”.
The award was established in memory of the dead from the accident 26-year-old historian Evgeny Shurygin, graduate of St. Petersburg University and specialist on Ethiopia, ethnic group Bora. In addition, according to the Professor, SPbSU Alexander Zheltov, “it will create new opportunities and incentives for young scientists and will draw attention to interesting, but often overlooked region”.
