All-new Volkswagen Arteon will be presented to the public for the first time at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2017. It is totally new developed model is positioned between Passat and Phaeton. According to the manufacturer, it will be a new Grand Turismo car with avant-garde design and dynamic handling.
The name Arteon (with the accent on the first syllable) consists of two parts: “Art” – describes the harmonious lines and emotionality of fastback; the ending “eon” identifies the car as a premium model.
Grand Turismo (Grand Tourer) is a class of powerful and luxury cars designed for long journeys at high speed, combining style and comfort. It is a reminder of the tradition of great European tours among European and Russian nobility. Often, such travel is performed by young people with educational purposes.
Four-door fastback (sport body shape that combines features of a sedan and coupe) will premiere not only the new models but also new design style of the brand. On the one hand it brings very emotive outline, on the other hand it has a highly expressive, horizontally accentuated brand look. Special attention designers paid to front end, in which the LED headlights and daytime running lights merge with the chrome-plated crossbars of the radiator grille and the bonnet.
It is believed that the new model will replace the former Volkswagen Passat CC, which belonged to the segment of large coupés-cabriolets and sold from 2008 until February of 2017. In February, Russian representative office took the model information from its website in connection with the stop of its production. Price of the car was about 1.7 million RUR. Arteon will stand on the step above, i.e. belongs to the segment of executive cars.
As a car of Grand Turismo class, the new product combines style and comfort. The interior is exceptionally generously spacious – with ample head and leg room at all seats – which is extraordinary for this body form.
The beginning of sales of the car is scheduled for summer 2017.
